A new Xenotest arrived and was set in Proplast’s technical area: the Q-Lab model Xe-3
The xenon chamber reproduces the damage caused by the full spectrum of sunlight and rain. In just a few days or weeks, the Q-Sun tester is able to reproduce on plastic samples the damage that occurs over months or years in outdoor environments.

Proplast has been approved as an accredited lab for RECYCLASS protocols
Proplast has been accredited as a certified laboratory for Recylass recyclability protocols, specifically for the Rigid PP protocol. Proplast is committed to expanding the number of protocols.

European FrontSH1P project starts
Proplast is partner of the European project FrontSH1P – A FRONTrunner approach to Systemic circular, Holistic & Inclusive solutions for a new Paradigm of territorial circular economy. The role of Proplast is to validate the Promix technology on selected materials and products according to the specifications of the coordinator KFlex in order to replace traditional chemical foaming agents.

Proplast’s Event: “Relation between process conditions and final properties of innovative polymers”
After a few years, Proplast collaborates with TA Instruments again, in the seminar entitled: “Relation between process conditions and final properties of innovative polymers” held on June 8th, 2021. The relationship between the process conditions and the final properties of the polymer are particularly crucial in the case of innovative materials. The topics of this event are electrically conductive polymers and polymers for 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing. Their characterization with different techniques (rheological, dynamic-mechanical, thermal, microscopy, electrical conductivity) allows to evaluate the impact of the process conditions on their characteristics.
New arrival in Proplast: the Bausano extruder
A new arrival in Proplast: the new Bausano MD 30/30 extruder which allows a more efficient approach to the treatment of recycled materials and represents a step forward achieving the objectives of the Reciplast project.
New President for Proplast
The Shareholder’s Meeting of Proplast held on May 31st 2021 nominated Eng. Marco Giovannini as new President. Eng. Giovannini takes up the baton of Piergiacomo Guala, the historic President of Proplast since its establishment. A warm welcome to the new President and a sincere thanks to the outgoing President for all he has done for us over the past 23 years. Eng. Guala still keeps a position within the Board of Directors, having been nominated vice president.
Replicability Workshop Italy
On May 13th Proplast organizes the Replicability Workshop Italy, that shows the achieved results within the Plasticircle project, funded by the Horizon 2020 Programme of the European Union, in its line of development about the theme of recycling and circular economy
The Aurae project starts
Proplast is partner of the Regional Aurae project – Filiera Automotive Regionale Ambientalmente sostenibile per trattamenti Estetici. The role of Proplast is to design a prototyping mold for the validation of materials and technologies developed within the project. Research, development and selection of materials with improved sustainability for the applications of the project.

New headquarters opening for Proplast and Plastics Academy
After 12 years at Parco Scientifico e Tecnologico, in Tortona, Proplast and Plastics Academy come back to Alessandria, in Via Roberto di Ferro 86. Offices and labs expand and we have also new spaces in the outside area: an extended service area and a parking for employees; the new building is on two levels more the warehouse, for a total surface of 3500 sqm.
The Regional 2G-CHEM project starts
Proplast is partner of the Regional 2G-CHEM project – Sustainable production of sugars and second-generation lignin from non-edible biomasses for conversion into biopolymers. The main goal of the project is formulation study and characterization of commercial and experimental PHAs. Study of thermoplastic- and thermosetting-based composites with lignin.

Publication on thermoplastic composite laminate technology
The monthly Plastix, technical magazine of plastics, published the interesting article written by Marta Palenzona – Proplast’s Advanced Design Lab in the September issue. The article is dedicated to the Bottle Opener project and deals with the various advantages of molding back-injected thermoplastic matrix composite laminates.
Piergiacomo Guala reconfirmed President of Proplast
Piergiacomo Guala reconfirmed President of Proplast at the Shareholders’ Meeting on Friday 21st June. Like every year, the Proplast Shareholders’ Meeting was an opportunity for sharing and updating for all Consortium members, whose number is constantly growing.
“ECP4” International Conference
International Conference “Research and Innovation For Plastics in a Circular Economy – Strategic Research Needs for the European Plastics and Composites Industry” held on May 21th in Alessandria, at the Università del Piemonte Orientale. The event is organized within the European platform ECP4 European Composites, Plastics and Polymer Processing, which brings together some of the most important R&D centers in Europe.
“Plastica amica” contest
The “Plastica Amica” contest on the use, reuse and recovery of plastic materials has been established. The initiative is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises or start-ups who can propose a slogan, a project idea or an object. The 1st prize awarded to AT Media, the 2nd to Ecoplasteam Srl and finally to Tech IT Packaging – Tecnopolimeri.

CGREEN Cluster takes part in the 13th edition of the A&T Automation & Testing fair from 13 to 15 February 2019 in Turin, at the OVAL Lingotto Fiere with a stand where it is possible to find an example of an “ideal supply chain”. Partners of the ICTPlast Training Project
Proplast became partner of ICTPlast project. A training program about advanced ICT tools. The project aimed to improve skills in planning production of SMEs for plastic sector.
Accreditation for Training
Consortium Proplast, successfully, passed the annual audit for the maintenance of regional accreditation about professional training (higher and continuing education) achieved in 2014.
Speakers at the Moldex 3d Technology Conference 2017
Proplast took part in Moldex 3d Technology Conference 2017 as speakers. The project included the presentation of a study done on injected thermoplastic composites, relative process simulations and FEM structural simulations.
Plastic 4.0 and Smart Factory Seminar
Great success about Plastic 4.0 and Smart Factory seminar. Industry 4.0 topic was presented from the specific point of view of plastics sector. Thanks to the presence of experts and corporate testimonials, different solutions adaptable to the industrial world have been concretely presented.

CGREEN Innovation Pole
Proplast, together with PST and IBIS are established in ATS and become co-managers of the CGREEN Innovation pole. The pole carries out activities to support the competitiveness of Piedmont companies encouraging a sustainable innovation.
Extruding with Promix Solutions
The new technology and Promix Solutions station jointed the compounding area for the extrusion of lighter thermoplastic products with reduced chemical additives use.

Thermoplastic composites and new technologies for PROCOMP Project
Proplast was leader of a companies group. The project aim was to develop components in laminate and thermoplastic retro composite injected by mean of new technologies and automatic processes.
Accreditation by Piedmont Region for the profession training.
Proplast received the accreditation by Piedmont Region as headquarter for the profession training.
Monitoring energy consumption
The APROL EnMon system installed in Proplast headquarter allowed a scrupulous energy analysis of the various laboratories and related equipment with a focus on the transformation processes.

15 Years – Supporting the Plastics Industry
Proplast celebrated its first 15 years: an important milestone characterized by successes and expectations for the future. The event of 27 June involved the participation of numerous entrepreneurs, national and international organizations. Many testimonies including Marco Giovannini – President of Confindustria Alessandria and Guala Closures: If it is true that the exams never end, it will be equally true that to face these exams we need excellent training centres on the territory which are able to attract and grow young talents.

Proplast consolidated an important partnership with Engel and Trexel. A new area dedicated to microcellular injection molding and development of MUCELL®, HEAT & COOL, ROCTOOL technologies has been opened.

BIOplastics Conference 2011
Proplast together with Polimerica and Plastica Verde organized an international conference with high-technical value about BIOTECHNICS and BIOMATERIALS.

Plastics Academy S.r.L establishment
Proplast Servizi srl has been transformed in Plastics Academy S.r.L integrating new professional training and recruiting activities specific for plastics sector.

Plastics EcoDesign Center
The participation in the Italian-French project laid foundations for the realisation od “EcoDesign Center”. The project aimed to support companies in developing competitive products for the environmental sustainability.
Managers about “ Regional Innovation Pole for new materials”
Proplast became manager of the “Regional Innovation Pole for new materials”. This valued recognition translated into a real opportunity for intercompany projects on R & D, training and technology transfer.
2008
Proplast Spin-Off
Proplast moved in PST-Rivalta Scrivia. Developed over an area of 3,500 square meters, it became the first integrated cycle center in the field of product and process engineering, research and analysis. The dense internationalization process and participation in high-tech projects allowed Proplast to become a point of reference for plastics industry.

1998
Proplast establishment
Proplast consortium opened its doors at the Polytechnic University of Turin – Alessadria HQ. Together they founded the “Cultural centre for the engineering of plastic materials” becoming the operative head of Proplast. Excellent business relationship and the introduction of new path allowed Proplast to be recognised as a leader in the market.
