On 20 September 2019 the declaration of the Circular Plastics Alliance was signed in Brussels, a voluntary initiative in which all the stakeholders belonging to the plastic world took part.
The target? Commit to work together with greater awareness on the use of plastic in the circular economy.
Materials manufacturing companies, converters, recyclers, public authorities, technology platforms, research centers, european associations declared their will to work together towards a winning strategy, remembering that plastic is not to be seen as an enemy.
The challenge will focus on the technological innovation of companies, on support policies, on incentives for the use of recycled materials and on research funding that institutions will approve with the aim of supporting reuse.
The commitment of all of us is fundamental, but not only: public institutions will have to inform citizens to enable them to become active in achieving the zero waste objective.
At the end of the day Frans Timmermans, Vice President of the European Commission highlighted that the Commission is committed to supporting the Alliance and all the initiatives to safeguard the planet. Europe’s purpose is to lead the world towards a sustainable future.
